How is cervical myelopathy diagnosed?

Dr. Remi Ajiboye takes your current, past, and family medical histories into consideration for the diagnostic process. Then, he performs a physical exam to assess your musculature, reflexes, and related function.

After the physical portion of the exam, Dr. Ajiboye may recommend further testing to confirm his suspected diagnosis. He may order X-rays, MRI or CT scans to detect structural problems.

What treatments are available for cervical myelopathy?

Depending on the severity of your symptoms, you may begin typical conservative treatment for your symptoms such as physical therapy, over-the-counter pain relievers, hot/cold therapy, and rest. If your symptoms persists or become progressive, Dr. Remi Ajiboye may recommend surgery. He uses the least invasive options whenever possible to decompress narrowing around the spinal cord.
